From the Cork Covered "Foto" Album
Looks like Grandpa Huggins and a friend.
Must be in Salt Lake - the large house across the street shows up in other SLC shots.
Probably during the early 40's again.

The Rawlins home brand new!
Stickers still on the windows and bare foundation. This must be about 1941 - Spring? Back row are two unidentified girls and then Lois. Front row includes Marie, Harold, someone holding Glenda, with the twins, Bette and Beth with question marks on their tops (a great teaser for identical twins).

1942 in Rawlins
On the back lawn in Rawlins.
Marie took the upper picture of Lois, Claudine with the twins in front. Below, Marie is in there with them on the left. Is that Geraldine in there? Lois has a different dress on now - or is that her? Someone was busy making all the matching dresses, I would guess it was their mom.

Lois' mother in her dress and apron getting set for some sort of race - this was before her back problems. Is that Claudine Reed second from the right and Lois fifth from the right? I wonder if it was a family reunion? With all the hair in bobby pins, I would guess this was on a Sat. afternoon.
Above and below: Marcie in the summer of 1942.
Good view of the up and coming neighborhood. They're in the new house- grass even! But if I remember right they had their first Sunday dinner there on the Sunday Pearl Harbor was bombed - Dec. 7, 1941. So they had all ready been in the house one summer.

1941 - A trip back to Utah to show off the new baby
Glenda and baby Marcia/Marcie Huggins.
Marcia was born in 1941 in Rawlins, so this must be on a summer trip back to Salt Lake.

Black Photograph Album 1939-1942
While packing things up last winter, we came across this delightful little album which Grandma/Lois kept as a young teenager. It gives us a glimpse into a happy little girl's life and the hopes and dreams which are part of every young person's experience.
Lois was very careful to caption each picture with a white pencil on the black pages.
The album begins in Utah and covers the move to Rawlins, Wyoming. The majority of the photos are of her sisters, brother, extended family and friends.
These are pictures from the first 4 pages. We'll scan our way through the whole album over the next few weeks.

Sunday School Class of Bryon Ward - 1940
Lois identified on back of photo. Kathy thinks she's the girl with the white hat on the second row. Mike thinks she's the girl on the far left of the front row. They both look close enough to be at least sisters or cousins. What's your opinion? Weigh in with a comment!

A Day at the Beach
Dale said this beach party did not have a happy ending because they all ended up with bad sunburns. He was so sick the day after that he didn't report in to work- a bad thing to do in the military obviously.

Rollins family blog
Check out the Rollins blog site here . It's a great site for photos and history- much of which we have access to all ready, but the photos are wonderful!
Isn't the internet is great?! Kathy

H. Marcene Hamblin
Marcene is second from the left on the back row. The backdrop seems to be the same one in the next photo of the Lyman High School Basketball Team (check out the water marks) - so a high school shot of friends maybe? I believe Mrytle Bradshaw is the girl on the far right. She went on to marry Frank Twitchell. The two kids on the far left look like they could be brother and sister.
About this basketball team - we're a little confused because documents show the school district didn't officially split until 1922, but I wonder if there's a gap in documents of some kind. Maybe which ever town fielded the high school put their initial on the team. The high school was at Lyman during this time if I understand it right. We need to clarify that a little.
Bottom three photos: Henry Marcene and a friend seem to be taking photos on a date. I wonder if he is a Bradshaw?
How many kids carry a guitar or a uke' on a date now days?? The girl doesn't look like Grandma... Wonder who she was. We'll keep looking for names - maybe talk to Aunt Geri.
Please leave a comment if you know any of these other folks. They must be Rollins, Blackners, Bradshaws, Eyres, etc. - all kids (And probably cousins) who grew up in the Bridger Valley. Some look vaguely familiar and Kathy is sure it's because we've taught some of their great-great-grandchildren with similar facial features.
